Childhood "words"

Oh the wonderful things that come from the heart and mouth of our children... wonder what the next ones will add???
Not only do the days of childhood fly swiftly though time, so does the wonderful language they personally develop from little ears learning the sounds and rythyms unique to geography as well as culture. I never want to forget they way they first said some things, important things and how we knew exactly what they meant even if no one else did.
As we were driving out of town back to the country, we passed the familiar gates of the Country Club to which TR clearly announced, "there's the Crunchy Cwub, Tahtee." I just loved it, and I began to think of the fun things they said and do say...
KG would grab our necks and whisper "I love loo." or procure a stick while begging Poppy to take her to the tank and "get the lucky stuff" (green slimy moss) out of the water. Will you stay right with Poppy,... "less I will" would be the common and wonderfully KG response.
Remember when we were trying to call him Trustin? and his brother staunchly stated,
"zhu not call him Trustin, he Shiwoh!"
or no longer will he be Poppy, according to Stets, he's "PopaTonk".
He told me just yesterday that there was a huge problem with his little brother's grooming habits, "we gonna haffa cut Shiwoh's toneynails Tahtee, they are sharp!" well, yes we will!
... and again with the appropriate names, Stets tells me, "I call her Tainey, but Twooooyyyy calls her Kaylyn" (with that drawl that only this one can capture!)
He told me not long ago that his favorite teacher is "misssss Iwwwennnne", and both boys love "misss Mawgaweet from the crunchy cwub". Who can resist??
As his big sister is now into spelling things so the 3 year olds don't get it, she importantly asked.. "is Dad H-O-M-E?" to which little brother seriously retorted, "no he's Jeffrey Todd!"
(reminds me of Ellena's announcement to Nana about the eggs in her tummy *big sister had been learning about reproduction in elementary terms* and Ellena assured her Nana "well I'll tell you one thing Nana, there's no chickens in there!")
As soon as I get into their car, TR will ask me for my phone with pictures to scroll through, or better yet... "do you have your "cackalater", Tahtee?" do you find it interesting that he'd be asking ME for a calculator??? me too!
Having boys has been such a trip for this grandmother, and trucks, tractors and tools are the stuff of little boy conversations. Troy's first real tool was a screwdriver which he demanded was a dedaw (not to be confused with KG word for hotdogs, "dedawgs"). Both boys must have "measurers" and no telling how many have been bought and broken and bought again by their Poppy (PoppaTonk). Hammy's were a close second to the dedaws and measurers for both boys. In fact as I write this, Troy just called to tell me he and Stets were perusing the local "man hangout", Lowes, and I hear Troy repeatedly telling our grandson... "don't take the keys out Stetson... put them back... okay where does this one go?" (I remember the last time I did this and both boys brought me a handful of little keys from all the lawnmowing equipment they'd "tried out". We secretly left them on the desk of the attending "helper person". Hopeing they didn't see us go, but the next time we came in betrayed the fact that they HAD SEEN, and we had a close attendant our entire visit.
The natural way these country kids grow up is so refreshing, but perhaps KG teacher thought otherwise when KG drew her horse anatomically correct as a stallion and proceeded to explain her additional "parts" to the class. It took us a bit to understand the work that TR was attempting with his little arms making the cowboy motions and his adament voice telling his dad.. "we gonna hip up doooose cows and back they up!!!" whatever that means... but I'm sure it had to do with some of those more unpleasant cowboy duties of rounding up the herd for shots, fly med, and other non-mentionable tasks that "cowboys" do. (even little cowboys think they are doing it too!)
Hummmm it's about lunchtime here, so I think I may go make some of TR's favorite, "macamoni" but no "taters"! I just love these words and the chuckle they bring this Tahtee's heart.... hummm it's their little hearts that gave me my best name, Tahtee!

Break us and expose us!

Break us open
Expose us
Oh Lord do we have any idea what that means?
When it was spoken that day so long ago beside the doorway leading to the patio, did we have any idea what "exposure" does? will do? has done?
Exposure means vulnerability, am I willing to let you see me?
Are you willing to let me see you?
Lord Your breaking will necessarily lead to vulnerability, but in Your house is safety, and under Your wings in where I always want to be.
Thank you my sweet "lil one" for always being one who will get right to the heart of the matter.... and you, Dylan, seems I recall something about "being naked" in the most spiritual of ways... where are the "safe houses" in our lives? May we know the beauty of "safe places", and (like the underground railroad in the days of slavery) may we be those "safe places" for others in these days among those who place unbearable yokes on mankind, even our own brothers and sisters. amen

"The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried,"
G.K.Chesterton
You can NEVER again say you've never read or heard of this man.
He was C.S. Lewis' inspiration in many ways. The Everlasting Man is a work of his along with so many others! Sometime let him tweak your mind with his. Blessings in your seekings!

Rerouting, changing plans

How far down the "road" can you see? What bumps are coming up?
What lies just over that hill?
How many times have you been rerouted lately?
Do you (as I sometimes do) feel like your plans have been thwarted or sabotaged?
What is your response to regrouping?
I am thinking today of several things that are happening in my life, and some of those close to me, and I am HOW amazing that God would *"block that route", that *"the Spirit of Jesus wouldn't let them go there either", that God would give a *"dream", that we would be allowed to see *"all the pieces come together", and finally the "the Master" would give *"a trusting heart". I'm thinking what Paul wrote to us in Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. "
(notice the many directional changes in these short verses... clear evidence of God's sort of rerouting... may we always have "eyes to see")
*Acts 16: (Paul met up with Timothy and this was the beginning of their trip)
6They went to Phrygia, and then on through the region of Galatia. Their plan was to turn west into Asia province, but the Holy Spirit blocked that route. 7 So they went to Mysia and tried to go north to Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus wouldn't let them go there either. 8 Proceeding on through Mysia, they went down to the seaport Troas. 9 That night Paul had a dream: A Macedonian stood on the far shore and called across the sea, "Come over to Macedonia and help us!" 10 The dream gave Paul his map. We went to work at once getting things ready to cross over to Macedonia. All the pieces had come together. We knew now for sure that God had called us to preach the good news to the Europeans. 11 Putting out from the harbor at Troas, we made a straight run for Samothrace. The next day we tied up at New City 12 and walked from there to Philippi, the main city in that part of Macedonia and, even more importantly, a Roman colony. We lingered there several days. 13 On the Sabbath, we left the city and went down along the river where we had heard there was to be a prayer meeting. We took our place with the women who had gathered there and talked with them. 14 One woman, Lydia, was from Thyatira and a dealer in expensive textiles, known to be a God-fearing woman. As she listened with intensity to what was being said, the Master gave her a trusting heart - and she believed!
Lord I am asking for eyes to see beyond what our flesh tells us should be into what our hearts know will be best, Your way!

hold your tongue

think ALWAYS
speak less
Listen MORE
Pr 17:28
Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.
May we be known for our "discerning" nature ;)

beginnings, and the LION

The picture that graces the header for this part of the blog site is by my sister, Jennifer Jones. It is painted as a HUGE mural on a metal "barn" at the side of the cattle guard entrance. There is great prophetic significance to the painting, and this LION is only part of the whole. There are blooming olive trees, a storm rolling onto the horizon, and this majestic lion walks with authority through a ripe wheat field. OHHHH does it just send goosebumps over you? Each time I see it and really look, it does me! My sister is amazing in her giftings. I will be posting .... well, it is to be seen. hugs, to all of you!
